The Firm was founded in 1944
Rochford Gallagher & Co. has been proudly serving the people of Sligo since it was established in 1944. We are a third generation family run law firm operating two successful legal offices in Tubbercurry and Ballymote, County Sligo.
The Firm was founded by the late Eamonn P. Gallagher and given its present name when he acquired the practice of Alfred A. Rochford who had been appointed as a District Court Judge.
Declan J. Gallagher, Eamonn P.’s eldest son, joined the Firm as a Partner in 1977 when Declan’s Sligo Office merged with the Firm. Declan continued to operate the Sligo branch for many years until it was fully amalgamated with the existing offices in 2012.
Eamonn M. Gallagher, Eamonn P.’s youngest son, joined the Firm as a Partner in 1984.
Fiona Gallagher, Eamonn P.’s Granddaughter and Declan’s daughter, joined as the Firm’s first female Partner in 2020 having worked with the Firm since 2014.
The Firm has achieved and maintains a Q6000 Gold Standard risk and quality management accreditation from The Institute of Legal Research & Standards (ILRS). The Q6000 Standard is awarded to Solicitor’s firms that have demonstrated exceptional levels of client, practice and risk management and assures clients that the Firm exceeds best practice standards and ranks among the highest quality of law firms in Ireland. The Firm has been independently audited annually by the ILRS since 2009 and continues to maintain the Q6000 Gold Standard. In the past five years we have achieved an average grade of 98%. Rochford Gallagher is also a member of The Law Society of Ireland.
The Firm actively supports local charities and worthy causes including the Arts. All Partners in the firm are actively involved in community affairs within their own respective communities.
The Partners

Declan J. Gallagher, Solicitor
Declan was born in Dublin. He was educated at Mungret College in Limerick. Declan qualified with a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree (B.C.L.) from University College Dublin and from The Law Society as a Solicitor in 1972.
Since qualifying, Declan has worked as a diligent and thorough Solicitor earning the respect of his clients and colleagues. He has volunteered with the Citizen’s Information Bureau in Sligo offering free legal advice for many years. He is currently the longest practicing Solicitor in Sligo earning him the title “Father of the Bar”.

Eamonn M. Gallagher, Solicitor and Accredited Mediator
Eamonn was born in Tubbercurry, County Sligo. He attended Benada Abbey, County Sligo and Rockwell College, County Tipperary. Eamonn obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Dublin and a Diploma in Legal Studies at Rathmines College of Commerce before attending the Law Society’s Professional Practice Course at Blackhall Place, Dublin and was admitted as a Solicitor in the Trinity Term of 1984.
Eamonn obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Property Tax from The Law Society.
Eamonn is an Accredited Mediator since 2009 having trained with Friary Law. Eamonn has ample experience acting as a Mediator in a range of matters having been recommended by colleagues and having been appointed by the Court.
Eamon is a member of The Law Society Panel to Assist Solicitors in difficulty with The Law Society.
Eamonn is an active member of the local community. He was the first President of Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce and Community Association Ltd. He is a founder member and first President of Tubbercurry Golf Club. He is currently Chairman of the Phoenix Players (one of the oldest amateur drama groups in Ireland) and Chairman of the Board of Management of St. Attracta’s Community School, Tubbercurry.

Fiona Gallagher, Solicitor and Accredited Mediator
Fiona was born in Sligo and attended The Ursuline College, Sligo. Fiona studied Law and French Law at University College Dublin graduating with a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree (B.C.L.) in 2012. As part of her undergraduate, Fiona studied at Université Paris Ouest Nanterre and obtained a Diploma in French Law and Legal Translation (DEJF: Diplôme d’Etudes Juridiques Français). She completed the Law Society’s Professional Practice Course at Blackhall Place, Dublin qualifying as a Solicitor in the Michaelmas Term of 2016.
Fiona is an Accredited Mediator having trained with Friary Law in 2018. Fiona completed the Family (Separating Couples) Mediation Training with Roundtable in 2022. Fiona is an Approved Mediator with the Mediators Institute of Ireland (MII).
Fiona is the President of the Sligo Solicitors’ Bar Association and acted as Secretary from 2018 to 2022.
The Support Team
Our legal team includes our loyal and dedicated support staff who have formed the backbone of our practice for many years. Our Legal Executive and Legal Secretaries are vastly experienced and work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our team performs at its highest capacity. They are, in tune with our Firm, courteous, friendly and efficient and will ensure you are made to feel most welcome. The Firm prides itself on the loyalty of the staff some of whom are with the Firm for three generations.
